Bahati is a celebrated gospel musician whose real name is Kevin Mbuvi. Born in 1994, the singer made headlines and gained popularity after joining the music industry at a young age. Bahati’s singing talent coupled with a humble personality has placed him in the same league with other famous musicians in Kenya.
Although the gospel artiste experienced difficulties while growing up, he has defeated all odds and outshined many musicians to become one of the famous gospel artistes in Kenya. As a result, Bahati has worn several awards including the best male gospel artiste during groove awards 2014.
Today, one may not imagine that the singer had a difficult life while growing up. Sadly, the young gospel artiste lost his parents at an early age. As such, he was left with no one to take care for him. The need for food, shelter, and education led Bahati to join ABC orphanage in Mathare slums.
The singer managed to school up to form four, having attended Nakeel school in Kajiando and later St Theresa Boys School in Eastleigh. He sat for KCSE in 2011 and scored a mean grade of C+. In the following year, 2012, he decided to develop his singing talent and that was the beginning of his singing career.
Bahati Music Journey
Bahati discovered that he had a singing talent in high school. This was evident in 2010 during the secondary school music festival (national level) that was help in Nakuru when he did a solo performance playing a guitar. In 2011, the gospel artiste represented his school (St Teresa High School) at national music festival where he also sung using a guitar.
Whenever Bahati did his performance at the school festivals, the crowds got amazed at his singing talent. Such performances gave him more confidence in his talent and a reason to pursue music as a career. In addition, his passion for singing made him to perform excellently during music festivals and singing competitions.
After clearing his form four studies, Bahati linked with L. B films and J. Blessing who helped him to produce his first song “Siku ya Kwanza”. The song became a hit that gave the singer popularity especially among the youths. Moreover, he quickly rose to the celebrity league as more Kenyans got interested in knowing his songs and his humble beginning.

In 2014, the gospel artiste won the top male gospel singer groove award. The sensational singer also got nominated for best collaboration and best video of the year categories that year. During Afrimma awards in 2014, the singer emerged as the best gospel artiste in Africa.
Notably, Afrimma wards are usually won by musicians who are ‘mature’ in the industry. However, Bahati songs quickly gained popularity in the entertainment industry and enabled him to win this award.
Bahati’s mother passed away when he was seven years old. The gospel artiste revealed that his family sort of neglected him after the death of his mom. In addition, the singer noted that his father, now deceased, also left him after his mom’s demise. He later realized that his father remarried and relocated. As a result, Bahati was left all alone in Kariobangi, the place he called home.
At such a tender age then, the singer joined a children’s home in Kariobangi called ABC Kenya. Through the children’s home he carried on with his primary school education and while in class eight, his father died. It was after this unfortunate happening that his step-brother (Kioko Bahati), the only family member he knew, took him and became his guardian from that point.
With the help of his step-brother, Bahati set out to trace his mother’s native home in Makueni County. After a two-days search, they finally traced the home and found his grandfather. The singer spent the weekend there and familiarized with his maternal family.

Bahati’s wife hails from western Kenya, a luo, and her father, Joseph Omach, is a leading advocate for fight against stigmatization of cancer patients. Diana had two diploma certificates: one in information technology and the other in marketing and communication.
In November 2017, she turned 30 years. Previously, Diana has worked with companies such as KEMRI, and Bio Foods Ltd. Her popularity grew after playing the role of a video vixen in one of her husband’s song, Mapenzi. The couple married in October 2017, and was blessed with a baby girl (Heaven Bahati) on 14th February 2018.

Bahati launched the EMB recording studio to provide affordable charges to people who want to become musicians. As such, the studio would help such people to achieve their dreams and goals.
The award winning gospel artiste recounted the struggle he went through to release his first song. He stated that EMB would help him to mentor upcoming or struggling singers and thereby help them realized their dreams.
Being Bahati TV Show
The award winning gospel singer launched a reality TV show dubbed Being Bahati. The show, which premiered on 22nd July 2018 on NTV, features Bahati’s love life including the singer’s celebrity lifestyle. In addition, the reality show features Bahati’s wife, his ex-lover, Yvette Obura, and his two daughters.
After airing for three months, the show was nominated in Kenya Kalasha Awards under the best TV show category. It is therefore among the most watched TV shows in Kenya. Bahati sealed a multi-million deal with NTV, which got exclusive rights to air the reality show.
